Most Common Questions About the Laurelin Farm Programs are answered here, if you still have questions contact Caroline by text 716-572-7160.
What should I wear to my riding lessons?
Long pants (that are not slippery) and sturdy closed toe shoes are required. Boots are nice, and shoes may get dirty so be prepared. We also ride in most weather conditions except pouring rain and thunderstorms, so having a jacket is a good idea. Caroline has riding helmets students can borrow if you do not have your own.
Do you have an indoor arena to ride in?
No there is no indoor. We have an all-weather sand ring and a large grass ring. We, as horses do, prefer to ride OUTDOORS and be cowgirl tough!
How does your cancelation policy work is the weather is bad?
If it is looking too cold or stormy Caroline will TEXT you 1 to 2 hours before your time and cancel or reschedule. This will not count against the number of lessons left in your package.
How do I schedule a lesson or fitting?
To schedule a lesson or fitting please go to the SCHEDULE page and pick the appropriate type and length you desire and then click on a calendar day to see what is open. If the time you desire is not listed, it is closed. Be sure to match the day carefully.
How much do lessons cost?
Single and Package Lessons range in price between $35 and $85 depending on the activities. For the most economical recurring lessons see the Commitment Package HERE.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?
You may cancel or reschedule online up to 24 hours before your lesson time. If you cancel or forget to come after 24 hours before your lesson, you will have that lesson amount deducted from your package. If special circumstances are needed Caroline may allow a reschedule on a case-by-case basis.
How do I pay for lessons?
Cash is King, but Caroline also accepts personal checks and Venmo.
What packages are available?
See the LINK here for all options.
Do you teach English or Western?
Both. Neither. Caroline teaches balanced seat riding in a wide range of saddles, some English, some Western, some Endurance, some Hungarian… you get the picture. Balanced seat riding is a methodology that encourages all around Horsemanship, a secure independent seat, and sets riders up for success for all future endeavors in riding whether trail riding, barrel racing, jumping and all horse sports in between. Efficient form to function equals top performance and enjoyment for the horse.
Do you do trail rides?
Individuals may sign up for the Adventure Package which does conclude with a lesson on an actual trail ride. Horses are not rented like a ‘Dude Ranch’ style business, we teach actual riding here ;)
Do you teach Therapeutic Riding Lessons?
Caroline is not a certified Therapeutic Instructor, nor does she have the equipment or volunteers for physically impaired riders. If your rider is very physically and mentally abled to be independent Caroline will consider folks on a case-by-case basis as she specializes in attentive one-on-one style lessons to meet rider’s needs.
What kind of events are at you barn?
Caroline hosts mounted archery practices and competitions, fun horse shows for students, day camps, yoga retreats, horse scouts, and many more fun things to do through the year! See the EVENTS link for up-to-date info.
